Twelve days of Liam.

Twelve days old today... Liam is doing great! He's such a sweet baby. We're snowed in right now so we're just being lazy, hanging out, loving the baby... and playing a lot of Wii. Ben got a Wii for his birthday, and he is obsessed with the Lego Star Wars game right now. We're letting him overdose a little since it's winter break and it's new.

Last time we checked (I think on Friday?) Liam was up to 9 lbs and half an ounce. He's been eating constantly. I think he has another checkup with our midwife tomorrow. He totally looks a little chubbier every day.

Jason was totally dad of the year yesterday. Our house is really dry right now because of the heater and fireplace. Apparently Liam not only looks like Jason, he's sensitive to things like Jason too. They are both getting really stuffy at night because of the dryness. The past two days Liam has been miserable at night (and Jason too) and we've been getting no sleep. It's also crazy snowy and we can't drive. Jason was going to take the bus to the store, but the bus never came. So he walked 3 miles in about 6 inches of snow to go get a humidifier so Liam could sleep last night. It's already working, we started it up when he got home and Liam sounded better and seemed happier. He slept a little better last night.


Brothers...


Ben is doing great with him. He was sad that he had to stay away from him the first couple days because he was sick. He's been so helpful though and always wants to get us things or watch when we change him or give him a bath.


Or sometimes instead of helping he just climbs all over Jason while he tries to change Liam...

3 days after he was born we had Ben's 5th birthday party. It was a little insane... well, maybe it was a lot insane. But Ben had a great time.

My Grandma got to town on the 16th. Liam is her 3rd great-grandchild. She hasn't seen Ben since he was 1, and she hasn't met Amelia yet since Laura and Jake are in Texas visiting Jake's family till tomorrow.




Laura (our midwife) came over on the 17th for the one week checkup. She taught us this magical Mexican midwife swaddle. It's awesome. The knot in the back supports his head and he can just sit all wrapped up. Plus it looks super cute, like a little bag of baby.




Liam left the house for the first time on Friday. He wasn't a big fan of the carseat. We walked around on Hawthorne for about an hour and a half, and Jason got to try out his sling.

Then Friday night Liam got to go out to his first restaurant. Mommy needed some sushi. It has been waaaaay too long without sushi in my life. So we went to Sinju in the snow, and then got some ice cream. And I'm so glad we went on Friday, because we've been snowed in since then.

First bath! His cord fell off so Jason and Liam took a bath. Liam loved the bath when he got to actually be in the water. He was not a big fan of the sponge bath.

Liam Kincheon is HERE! Finally!

Liam Kincheon Lander was born at home at about 1:36 this morning! It was fantastic. Our midwives, Mirra, Laura, and Debbie, were so great. He was five days late... Monday I got acupuncture, and started having contractions a little while later. They were pretty weak still, but then last night while we were cooking dinner, my water just broke. I still wasn't in much pain at all for while after that, which was great and totally different from Ben.

As far as labor goes, it was pretty awesome. The only really really intense part was the transition and pushing. He came out with his head sideways, which made it really painful! But he came out fine, and is so amazingly cute and perfect!!! We can't stop staring at him, and Ben is excited to be a big brother. He stayed up and got to meet Liam a few minutes after he was born.

He's 8 lbs 8 oz, 21 inches long, and such a sweet baby! He's been nursing well and is totally calm. We love him! The midwives left at about 4:30 this morning, and Ben was up at 8... luckily Grandma and Grandpa are here to entertain him. He was so sweet though, he just wanted to climb in bed and cuddle with us and help me out. He's an awesome big brother :)

Jason was awesome. He and my sister stayed upstairs with me and kept me moving around. He was the perfect labor partner and is such an amazing daddy. He got to help Mirra catch Liam, and cut the cord. All in all it was an awesome experience. I am soooo glad to be done though!

Three days late....

So apparently second babies don't always come earlier! He'll be three days late in an hour and a half. I know that's not really that late, but we had totally gotten ourselves all pumped up for him to come early, because we kept hearing second babies come early. So it seems even later. Here's a picture of the giant belly on his due date. I am making an appointment to do some acupuncture next week, which might make him want to get out. There's a midwife/acupuncturist who is supposed to be great, and even though I've never had it because I'm a little scared of those needles, I'm thinking I'll go for it. My midwife said I could try a chiropractor or an acupuncturist if I wanted, and at the time I wasn't that desperate but I'm getting there.

So here's the belly on the due date. He needs to hurry up and get out because he's just getting bigger and bigger.....



And here's another just for fun, the day after the due date, going to get the Christmas tree!

Yep, he's still in there.

So... future baby is still in there. He's due tomorrow. Ben was pretty much on time, I was in labor on his due date but he wasn't out till the next day. So I was hoping that the second one would come a little earlier. Apparently he wasn't down with this plan. Not even after I made him the famous eggplant that supposedly makes you go into labor within 48 hours. I had that on Monday. He also did not fall for the spicy thai food trick, or the greasy chinese trick, or the stuff myself silly on thanksgiving trick. Or the eat an entire fresh pineapple for breakfast trick. So I've decided the food making babies come out thing is a big fat lie, and people just remember the last thing they ate and decide that's what did it.

We had another midwife appointment this past Tuesday, and I asked her to guess how big she thought he'd be because people keep asking me that. She says she's usually pretty close, and her guess based on feeling him is that if he was born Tuesday he'd be about 8 lb 12 oz. So.... if she's right, he's gonna be at least 9 pounds! I made another appointment for this coming Tuesday, but they don't think I'll make it that long so hopefully they are right.

Anyway since I have no exciting baby pictures to post, here's some more stuff I've made. I think I already posted pictures of the nursery stuff, but now it's all set up so I'm doing it again.

This hat is the same yarn as the little hat and socks (except its different colors, obviously) and I made it without a pattern so the earflaps are a little funky. If I made them again I think I'd make them more square and less triangle-y.

And here's his little room, all ready for him..... Jason's friend Kris made this sock monkey quilt for us. Isn't it cute??

Hat and Socks

The most recent thing I've knitted for the baby... this little hat and socks, for when he's tiny. They are cashmere but it's a really thick cashmere, so it's super soft but also thick and warm. The yarn was on sale, and I love it, so I also made him a little red and blue hat from the same stuff. I'll post a picture of that someday too.
